Even on the news, they say follow us on Twitter at blah blah blah.  Twitter seems to be everywhere these days. But my big question is how are these big companies using it to generate traffic to their websites?

The answer may surprise you.  You see, corporations don’t use Twitter the same way you and I use Twitter.  They do things differently and get results we can only dream about.

A guy named Chris Vendelli has taken a close look at this and crammed all the answers into an easy to understand product named The Twitter Report, which I highly recommend.

Is it because black has no joy?

It can’t be that.  If you’d ever seen my wife in some of her black outfits you’d know what I mean.  She looks outstanding.  Especially with her lovely green eyes.

“Black Hat” tactics are ones that cross some ethical or legal line to produce their results, as opposed to the “White Hat” tactics that are pure in every way.

This brings us to “Grey Hat” tactics that lie somewhere in the middle and cause the biggest debate.  They can get you in trouble too, even if they might be legal.

The problem is that you may be slipping into the grey areas of marketing without even realizing it.  Ignorance, in this case, is definitely NOT bliss.

It can cost you a lot in lost business and damage to your reputation.

This is why it is so important to know how to market effectively and stay totally “White Hat” all the way.

Twitter is a powerful marketing tool that can cut both ways and either help or hurt your reputation and business.

This is just one of the reasons I wanted to interview the top Twitter Marketers.

Why do you need multiple accounts?

1. Protect your personal name by getting Twitter accounts in you own name.
2. Get Twitter accounts with variations of your name.  I’ve got GregoryCollins AND GregoryDCollins.
3. Get your business name protected by getting a Twitter account for it too.

Remember that just because Twitter accounts are free that it does not mean that they do not have value.  Twitter is a great way to build a list of like minded people and can be an important part of your marketing plan.

But then I thought, “What if I was homeless?”

What would I do if I had to start from scratch and major limtations:

1. Only a library computer
2. Only using free software
3. Limited technical skills

I started thinking about this an the ideas swirled around my head like a mini tornado.  I had to throw out some because they were to complicated. Other ideas would work but they cost money, so they were  out.

This wasn’t as easy as I first thought it would be!

I realized that if I were homeless and living on the street, I would need a step-by-step plan that was simple and would generate cash quickly.

10 Steps To Make Money Online (Even If You’re Homeless)

1. Create your free email account at http://gmail.com
   You’ll need an email address to create your other free accounts.
2. Create a free blog account at http://WordPress.com
   This is where you’ll talk to your audience.
3. Create a PayPal account so you can get paid when people read your blog posts about a product and click on your link to buy it. http://PaPal.com
   
4. Create a ClickBank account at http://clickbank.com
   You will need to have some proven products to talk about and sell to your audience. ClickBank has thousands of products competing for the top spots in each category.  This weeds out the weak products and lets the cream rise to the top. Remember to enter your PayPal address so you get paid when peopls click on your links.
5. There are lots of interesting products in ClickBank.  Pick an area that you are interested in and take a look at the top products in that area. Pick a product that looks interesting and then create a link for it.
6. Copy the link and paste it in at http:/bit.ly to get a shorter link that looks like this- http://bit.ly/x85wS (This is my link for one f my favorite products that shows you haw to make even more money with ClickBank.)
7. Go to your WordPress blog and write a post about what you found interesting about that product and include the shortened link that you made at http:/bit.ly.  When people click on your link and buy the product, you will earn a commission.
8. Now you’ll need some eyeballs on your blog to read your posts.  Two free and easy ways to build a list of people interested in the topic you’ve chosen are Twitter and FaceBook. Create your accounts at http:/Twitter.com and http://Facebok.com.NOTE: You want to create a list of people that are already interested in your  selected topic, so use the search functions to make friends with people on FaceBook and follow people on Twitter.
   
9. Put a link to your blog on both your Twitter account and your FaceBook account.
10. Write a new blog post every day and post it to Twitter and FaceBook.

Get a little Twitter help from your friends

Who are the five biggest or most interesting people in your field of interest?  Do you think that people that follow them on Twitter might also be interested in the same things that interest you?  Absolutely!

1. Write down the names of the 5 most interesting people in your field.
2. Follow them on Twitter
3. Repeat the following steps every day:
   1. Go to the Twitter page of the first person on your list.
   2. Click  on the  link that shows their followers.
   3. Follow everyone on the first 5 pages of followers. These will be their newest followers.
   4. Wait at least a half an hour and then repeat this process for each person on your list.
   5. Remember to wait at least a half an hour in between.  Otherwise you might get marked as a spammer and have your account locked.

Some of the people you follow will also follow you back.
