Even on the news, they say follow us on Twitter at blah blah blah.  Twitter seems to be everywhere these days. But my big question is how are these big companies using it to generate traffic to their websites?

The answer may surprise you.  You see, corporations don’t use Twitter the same way you and I use Twitter.  They do things differently and get results we can only dream about.

A guy named Chris Vendelli has taken a close look at this and crammed all the answers into an easy to understand product named The Twitter Report, which I highly recommend.

My daughter, Rebecca, called during the pre-show and asked me who I was rooting for.  Well, in a house where my wife insists that every commercial be instantly muted, I look forward to the Super Bowl all year long because that is the one day that this silly rule is suspended.

I love the commercials.

I tolerate the football.

Although I must admit that this year’s game was pretty exciting and I found myself sitting literally on the edge of my seat!

But I digress…

What can you learn from this year’s commercials?

1. There were more “Brand” type commercials than “Product” type commercials by a wide margin.Branding is also key on the online world too.  What are you doing to manage your brand?  Are you consistent in your slogan, images, and presentation?This is a good time to take a step back and reevaluate your branding plan.
2. Direct Response ads made a powerful impression.Take the GoDaddy ads for example.- They had their domain name on the screen throughout the whole ad
   - They generated interested (what happens after the blouse is torn open)
   - They had a powerful call to action (go to GoDaddy.com and see the rest)
3. Product ads were highly targeted.Remember the ad for the Dodge Charger?  It was definitely targeted to men who were of working age, in a relationship, and feeling obligations to behave in certain ways by certain people.

Do you have a good idea of who your target audience is?  Do you have a clear insight into what motivates them and what their desires are?

This is a good time to take a step back and grade your marketing efforts on these three key issues.

Is it because black has no joy?

It can’t be that.  If you’d ever seen my wife in some of her black outfits you’d know what I mean.  She looks outstanding.  Especially with her lovely green eyes.

It can cost you a lot in lost business and damage to your reputation.

This is why it is so important to know how to market effectively and stay totally “White Hat” all the way.

Twitter is a powerful marketing tool that can cut both ways and either help or hurt your reputation and business.

Many people discover that when they buy a product the promises to teach them how to make money online that what they get is not exactly what they expected.

I know that I’ve been disappointed over and over again.  Many times I was completely shocked by what I received when my purchase was delivered.

I really had to do a rewind in my mind and review what was said in the tele-seminar that caused me to buy the product in the first place.

Take for instance this last week.  I spent several hours updating and rewriting a document.  I rewrote several major sections and was feeling really satisfied with what I’d accomplished.

Once you’ve selected a topic that you’re really interested in, be selective in the experts you choose to interview for your teleseminar.  This is what Tellman looks for — people that have the following qualifications:

• A list of a least 10,000 and willing to send out 3 emails to their list

My wife called me to let me know what was happening and I was able to avoid the area on my way home.  After parking in the garage, I called my two 150 pound Irish Wolfhounds to me and we slowly searched each room of the house before bolding the front door.

In the kitchen I found our emergency hand crank powered radio/flashlight tool and started cranking away to charge it as I listened to the local news for more information on the shooting and the fleeing shooters.

After a while of listening to the helicopters circle in search of the fugitives, I eventually got bored and started listening to an interview by Tellman Knudsen in my new iPhone 3GS.  He was interviewing a student of his that took one of his courses and built a hugely profitable list in just a few weeks.
